Basic Requirements for Application
What are the basic requirements for the MM2H application?
The validity period of your MM2H visa depends on the package you choose:
- Economic Zone- 5 Years
- Silver – 5 Years
- Gold – 10 Years
- Platinum – 20 Years
Do applicants need to be from countries that have diplomatic relations with Malaysia?
No, except for Israeli citizens, individuals from any country with valid identification, a passport, and a clean criminal record in their home country are eligible to apply.
What are the minimum age requirements for MM2H applicants?
The MM2H program requires Economic Zone Package applicants to be at least 21 years old and other package applicants to be at least 25 years old, with dependent children included in the application not exceeding 35 years old.
Can MM2H visa holders work or own business in Malaysia?
Only the Platinum Package permits visa holders to work or own business in Malaysia. For other packages, such activities are not allowed. However, participants are permitted to engage in investment activities.
Do applicants need to provide proof of overseas assets and income?
Applicants are not required to submit proof of overseas assets or income to the government. However, they must ensure they have sufficient funds to cover the costs of their selected package.
Basic Requirements for Property
Is property purchase required for the MM2H application?
Yes, it’s required. This is to ensure a long-term and stable residential option for applicants.
Can I proceed with the application if I have already own a property?
If applicants have purchased property before selecting a package, they can proceed with their application by providing proof of ownership, provided the property meets the requirements of the chosen package.
Fixed Deposit Requirements
How much do I need to deposit in a Malaysian bank for the MM2H program?
The required fixed deposit amount depends on the selected package, calculated in USD as follows:
Economic Zone Package: $32,000
Silver Package: $150,000
Gold Package: $500,000
Platinum Package: $1,000,000
When can the fixed deposit be withdrawn?
Funds deposited in a Malaysian bank account under the MM2H program cannot be withdrawn early, except for property purchases. Applicants may withdraw up to 50% of the deposit by submitting relevant documents to the bank for property-related purposes. Otherwise, the full deposit must be maintained to meet program requirements.
Can I withdraw the fixed deposit after my Visa is canceled?
Yes, the fixed deposit can be withdrawn once the MM2H visa is cancelled, as it is a requirement of the program and no longer needed after cancellation.
Government Fees & Service Charges
What are the service fees?
The service fees for the MM2H program vary by package and are as follows (in USD):
Economic Zone Package: $40,000
Silver Package: $40,000
Gold Package: $55,000
Platinum Package: $70,000
Note: These fees do not include government visa fees or dependent application charges.
What are the additional fees for including immediate family members?
The following fees apply for each dependent (not included in the main application fees):
Tourism Ministry Participation Fee: As specified by the Ministry.
Immigration Department Processing Fee: MYR 2,500 per person.
Annual Visa Fee: MYR 500 per person.
Multiple Entry Visa Fee: MYR 30 per person annually.
Other Related Fees: Medical check-ups, health insurance, and visa endorsement fees.

Marriage certificate of the parents or in-laws.
Household registration (proof of family relationship).

MM2H Application Process
Which departments are involved in the application process?
The Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) program is managed by the Immigration Department of Malaysia, which handles visa and residency-related matters for applicants, and the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture Malaysia (MoTAC), which oversees and implements the overall MM2H program.
What should I do after deciding to apply for the MM2H program?
Sign the ESerenc Letter of Intent.
Prepare the following documents for each applicant:
Full passport biodata pages (scanned copies are acceptable).
Passport-sized photos (blue background), at least four copies per person (scanned copies are acceptable).
Personal resumes for the main applicant, spouse, children, and parents (if applicable).
Marriage certificate (translated, notarized, and dual-authenticated).
Certified true copies of documents for the main applicant, spouse, or in-laws (if included in the application).
Medical birth certificates (translated, notarized, and dual-authenticated).
Certified true copies of documents for parents (if they are included in the application).
Police clearance certificate (CGC) for all applicants and dependents aged 18 and above (certified true copies).
How much do I need to pay after signing the ESerenc Letter of Intent?
The payment depends on the selected package. It includes 20% of the service fee as a deposit, along with government participation fees and related charges, to meet the program’s residency requirements.
How to handle document translation, notarization, and dual authentication?
- Engage a certified translation agency in your home country to translate documents into English.
- Submit the translated documents to your country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) for authentication.
- Have the documents further authenticated by the Malaysia Embassy in your country.
